About Us

Welcome! We’re glad you interested in knowing how your purchases can support public radio.

Any time you intend to shop at Amazon.com or Arkivmusic.com, first stop by the Public Radio Market Web site. That way a percentage of all your item purchases (not just those items discussed on public radio) will go to support public radio.

You'll find the same prices as you would going directly to these sites—you don't pay the commission on these referred sales, Amazon.com and ArkivMusic do—and you can shop for anything. It's easy. It's smart. It's goods for you and it's good for us!*

Bookmark www.publicradiomarket.org. Use it whenever you shop online—for anything!

How to Find What You're Looking for on Public Radio Market

Products from Amazon.com

The Amazon.com search box and product categories are conveniently located on most Public Radio Market pages, making it easy to locate and purchase any items handled by Amazon.com.

When you proceed to checkout, you'll be taken to the Amazon Web site. You can even add more products to your cart from the Amazon.com site. As long as you accessed Amazon first from Public Radio Market and make your purchase within 7 days (or 90 days if you log into your Amazon account), your purchase will earn a commission for public radio stations and programs.

Classical recordings from ArkivMusic

The ArkivMusic site can be accessed by first clicking on the "Classical Music" tab at the top of most Public Radio Market web pages or the ArkivMusic banner in the right hand column.

Items you heard about on public radio

If you're uncertain about the name of a book, recording, or something else you may have heard about on public radio, try the "Featured on Public Radio” category in the “Browse by category” section. We keep track of the wide range of books, recordings, and other products that are discussed on public radio shows, and this is an easy place to find them.

About American Public Media Commerce Activities

Our retail business began in 1980 when four products were shown on the back of a poster that was sent to fans of A Prairie Home Companion. Audience demand proved strong, and the resulting catalog grew over time into a $225 million business. (Revenue from the catalog's eventual sale established an endowment fund for Minnesota Public Radio and American Public Media.)

American Public Media has retained several commerce functions to generate income, support the distribution of products associated with public radio programming, and to provide a resource for public radio audiences. Sales are carried out through several channels.

The Pretty Good Goods web site sells a wide variety of merchandise from several public radio shows, including A Prairie Home Companion, Car Talk, The Splendid Table and All Things Considered. The merchandise is managed and distributed through a fulfillment house with product selection and merchandising handled by APM staff.

Public Radio Market is a collection of online outlets that operate as affiliates of Amazon.com and other vendors. Purchases made through storefronts for programs like The Splendid Table and The Writer's Almanac generate commissions up to ten percent. Classical music affiliate sales are handled through Arkiv Music. Downloads of digital recordings by Garrison Keillor and A Prairie Home Companion are provided by Highbridge Company.

Email newsletters, a Facebook fan page, and a blog provide updates on new products and special offers.
